Good news for government employees
Depending on which sector the employee belongs to and whether he or she has been waiting for the 7th Pay Commission, there is going to be some good news.
The edge of getting favored was further established with the Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, also increasing the dearness allowance (DA) for all state government employees. The DA will increase by 4 percent, which a lot of people will need following the struggles they have had to go through.
DA Hike under the 7th Pay Commission
This new raise in DA, which shall come into force on January 1, 2024, was determined based on the central rates of the seventh pay commission. From this, a critical step has been taken to encourage government employees and help with their financial matters due to increasing costs.
Scoping beneficiaries of the DA increase
This DA increase will be provided to around 4.71 lakh serving government employees and almost 4.73 lakh retirees or pensioners in Gujarat. Doing it this way guarantees that a huge population will be awarded working capital to cater for inflation.
Payment plan for DA arrears
The DA arrears based on the new schedule will take effect from January 1, 2024, up to June 30, 2024, and the payment will be divided into three installments. These payments are as follows:
For these payments, an all-together amount of Rs. 1,129.51 crore has been allocated. Employees will receive:
- The payment was made up of January and February’s salary arrears as well as July’s actual salary payment.
- When the concerned amount is due, the employee is expected to pay March and April arrears with the following month’s salary.
- April and May allowance and June’s arrears with September salary.
Impact on Employees’ Salaries
As a result, over the next few months, employees will notice a significant jump in their basic salary for each month. The structured payment plan helps in the proper and punctual disbursement of the benefits to the employees without any delay.
