Starting from the night of July 21st, the Delhi-Dehradun Highway will be closed for heavy vehicles to allow Kanwar Yatra that starts on July 22nd. This is considered a very important festival, which takes place in the Sawan month, and thus requires a particular management approach in terms of traffic for the benefit of pilgrims.

An important briefing took place on Thursday in Meerut, where the police of Uttar Pradesh and those of Uttarakhand state identified and agreed on the traffic map for Kanwar Yatra. The detailed plan is to be ratified during the joint conference of officials from four states on July 6.
Traffic Standards and Important Dates
21st July: However, to enable free movement of the pilgrims, heavy vehicles will not be allowed on the highway and all Kanwar routes from midnight on.
25th July: At night, there will be changes in the traffic circulation of Kanwar routes, which will make them one-way.
27th July: The night ban will also list light vehicles from Haridwar on the National Highway 58. The NH 58 Kanwar Patari Marg Delhi Meerut Expressway shall only be open to Kanwarries.

The traffic plan is expected to receive the final seal during a joint meeting on July 6 with representatives from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and two more states. Schedules and other related matters will be discussed and confirmed in this meeting to guarantee the successful implementation of the Kanwar Yatra.
